Yet in midstream the search engines indicated that they had enough of the portal sites and suddenly the steady stream of visitors dried up and slowed down to a trickle. Search engines reject the portal sites now and instead give preferential rankings to those sites that actually provide germane content and bona fide articles which are keyword rich and offer an appeal to visitors. Thus the notion of article marketing was born. Today, article promotion targets search engines and consumers, and the concept has proven so successful that companies are quite frequently now relying on this medium to get out the word.
The concept is deceptively simple: a consumer in search of a product or service types in a search phrase or word into the search engine and allow the search engine to offer them the most relevant websites for perusal. Yet rather than relying on simply a match of terms – imaginative online scammer have attempted to circumnavigate this system by simply putting a bunch of gibberish onto the site that contained several highly ranked keywords and search terms – the search engines are now looking for contextual relevance in the framework of the topic and also the industry.
This permits the search engines to week out sites that are obvious sales pitches and contain little information that is of value and focus solely on a hyped pitch. The most common offenders are multi level marketing sites and distributor sites devoted to nutritional supplements. As a result you will find that many authors offer their services in writing these articles and distribute them at low prices to webmasters that are in search of quality content to update their website with quickly. It is these quality articles that provide humour and well researched material written in contemporary language that will be found by the online magazines, blogs thereby allowing further exposure through the online worldwide network.
